From the Central Bay Area, it is about 4-1/2 to 5 hours driving time to River Haven Cottage up the Interstate 5 corridor. Upon reaching Redding, you will take Highway 299 West, past Whiskeytown Lake, then on over the Buckhorn Summit divide into Trinity County.
As you descend down the other side of the summit, the smell of Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Firs fills the air. Shortly, you will leave Highway 299 and travel a short way northward.
River Haven Cottage will be found just south of Lewiston and Trinity Lakes on the banks of the Trinity River about 3 miles downstream from the town of Lewiston.
