The Fishing in Trinity County is definitely world class.  No matter what time of year, great fishing can be found throughout the area.

In the summer and the fall, Chinook and Coho salmon make their way up to their spawning grounds of the Trinity River.  You can fish for trophy size Brown Trout most of the year as well.  And the fly-fishing only section of the river offers some of the North-state's best kept fishing secrets.

In the fall and winter, steelhead find their way from the Pacific Ocean on up the Trinity River to the tail waters of Lewiston Lake.

Lewiston Lake is open year-round.  You can troll (boat rentals are available at the lake at Pine Cove Marina at 778-3770), use your float tube or fish from the bank.  Whatever your style, Browns, Rainbows or Brook trout await your cast.

Trinity Lake has been recently stocked with Chinook Salmon.  And in the fall and spring, fishing the mouths of the rivers that feed into the lake can be quite productive for trout.

For the more adventurous, hiking into the alpine lakes of the Trinity Alps can provide some quiet solitude as well as some of the best mountain fishing that California has to offer.  One of the more unique lakes in the area is Grass Valley reservoir.  This fishery boasts land-locked steelhead and is an easy 30 minute hike from Highway 299.
